Hello world!
Here it is, my first post to my site that will hopefully remain with me for quite a while. I know that it isn’t too fancy yet but I am hoping to establish the content and purpose before all the pretty stuff. Although be assured as I start to write here more I will get all of that worked out!
The site begins with posts that are in order to primarily keep family updated on my life, my travels, and news that I think is particularly important to share with them, but am also writing this blog to share information and stories from my adventures. I am going to be blogging about the environment, building community (along with my own trial and errors on this), exploring, traveling and any little bits and pieces that have to do with projects I am working on, either for school or personal enjoyment. I will let you know about books that I think you should ABSOLUTELY read, places I love and people I have met along the way (with their permission of course). I will let you know about truly wonderful websites that have helped me out in my personal exploration of myself and the world around me (website resources). Yes this seems to be vague but after a few days/weeks my style should start to hash itself out here as well. I might have themed days and I might just post once or twice a week. All of this is yet to come and its so exciting that I know that you will come back to read!
(At this point, March 2011, I am posting pretty sporadically because of my busy schedule with school and work. This should clear up in May 2011.)
In order to cut this post off before I start to ramble, I will tell you a bit about myself. I am a female college student right now (going into my Third Year), preparing to study abroad in a small town in Queensland, Australia. I am going to be working on rainforest restoration and taking classes to learn more about rainforest issues and study the effects we are and are not having on them. I will be there for a whopping three months. This doesn’t seem like a long time to me right now, and I know I will change my mind on whether it is or is not hundreds of times. I am in a relationship with a pretty cool dude right now. I am an Environmental Science and Policy Major and am a vegetarien. I live in Austin, TX and love it here. I love to travel and want to: touch every continent, curcumnavigate the globe on sailboat, experience the local life whereever I go, and try to get over my phobia of new foods. I love people (for the most part) and am interested in Environmental Sociology, City Planning, Travel Writing, Sharing Knowledge, and Exploring. I pretty much am interested in the way that people interact with their environments all over the world, teaching others if they are interested, and learning. It is why I travel and why I care so much about the environment. I think that for now that should be good, if you want to know more come back and find out!
Love your blogs. Love how you’re tying this blog into twitter. I can learn so much from you!
